Yeah, as the other anon stated, having experience in the coinage generally makes the fakes obviously. Sorry, you don't appreciate the artistry.

>>57743906
Thanks, anon. It was my first ancient. Saving/hunting for an AOE owl like what you posted. Greek coins are so cool.

That looks really neat, anon. I've never seen one of those. You'll have to share a pic when you get it! I've been saving my credit card rewards points for some months. I was planning to trade the points for a quarter ounce of gold, but the tetradrachme was beckoning me too strongly. Maybe next time I'll go with the gold quarter ounce (but desu I want a nice Athenian owl so... heh, we'll see).

It won't do anything, other than cause a bunch of retards here to overextended themselves on buffalo rounds, lmao.

>embrace history and the sad fate of people
This is so true. Smooth brains don't understand that decline of civilization is inevitable. I plan to move into Roman coins after I get a few more Greek and Helenistic coins. I got this Julian coin for a fellow tranner friend though.

A-Ara ara~ I'm looking to spend between $400-$700. I'll dig into these more over the weekend. Do you have any sites or books anything you recommend for learning more about ancient coins?

Oh that's cool. I picked up that Greek coin from a shop in the Sunnyvale called Tressure Island Stamps and Coins. I don't live in Cali, but I was in town on business. They had a great selection of Greek and Roman coins; if you ever find yourself in the area, it's worth a stop. The old guy there was really nice too. I bet SoCal and Vegas have great coin shops with stuff from all over the world. I don't see ancient stuff or anything too exotic where live though, so I'll likely have to buy online if I want to expand my collection in those realms. Lucky you can peruse that kind of stuff on the regular!

Enjoying this Roman coin until I gift it to my friend for Christmas. When Julian leaves, I'll have to find another fren for Athena.

You did finish your Christmas shopping already, didn't you /pmg/?
