Longer term, it won’t work with Bitcoin the way it did with precious metals. They can write all the phantom derivatives they want, but what ultimately drives the price is supply and demand. The supply of Bitcoin shrinks every day. Let me explain:

If 1,800 new coins are mined each day, let’s say 1000 are sent to market. 100,000 coins are traded on exchanges every day. If ten percent of those are sent to cold storage, it means there are 9,000 fewer Bitcoins on the market every day. All we have to do is keep the demand steady (keep buying and hodling—NEVER SELL) and the price will rise no matter what they do.

Remember, it is ultimately a level playing field because to effect drops in the price, one must sell coins on an exchange. Eventually these guys will run out of coins to sell or, if they are shorting (which they are at this point), will need to cover their shorts by buying back.

They’ve already lost if enough of us around the world keep buying and sending the coins off the exchanges.

IQ 160 here. I have a hard time finding serious discussion about Bitcoin on it's game theory and why it's going to $1,000,000+ long term on /biz/.

Is anyone here aware on Jonh Nash's Ideal Money, Schelling points and game theory? Are all of you just shitcoin shills and the occasional boomer talking about real state, stocks and bonds? Or is anyone actually intelligent visiting this board?

I feel alone at the top.

>he unironically valued land over Bitcoin

Economists and pundits pontificate about what gives cryptocurrency value. Even Bill Gates chimed in saying he would short Bitcoin if he could. But he can.

Money has value because of wide-scale public confidence that others will also accept it in exchange.

But underlying or backing money has always been the productivity of society. In the agricultural age, land was precious because a significant portion of our economic activity was involved with the production of food.

Even Julius Caesar and Andrew Jackson restored economic order by backing the debt with land. But the Industrial Age and now especially the Knowledge Age is rendering food production a shrinking share of the economic activity, and thus money is no longer backed by land. Thus borders, empires, and nation-states are becoming irrelevant!

Even a peasant worker in China realizes this stating, “We live in an economic age, a family cannot rely on a bit of land.” https://youtu.be/t487ILVf87k?t=331
