How do u retopo some complex model in five minutes?

And which software to use?

>> No.738345

Instant meshes remesh add-on for blender auto retopologizes but you have to mess with the settings to make it look right. You will never get very clean and efficient topology with it, but it's a good quick way to get it over with

I just use blender with shrink wrap + mirror modifier to retopoligize. It takes time but so does wiping your ass which is something you should also do. The trick to do it quickly is to block out the figure first ignoring medium and small details. If you try to get wrinkles and shit from the start it will take forever. Subdivide and add edgeloops to get more details after your first pass

The retopo you can get done in 5 minutes will have the quality of something you did in 5 minutes.

A quality topology pass take a few hours even with experience.

zbrush remesher, on most cases set and forget

disclaimer: I'm not in the 3D industry. Is there no tool where you can draw a few guide lines for edge flow or star singularities select a detail level, and have it remesh based on your markings? Every year at SIGGRAPH I pop into the topology session and I see those wankers talking about their latest innovations to retopo mathematics/algorithms, I'd have expected to see the fruits of their labour reflected in a few available tools by now.

3DS Max seems to be getting that feature soon. Don't know if there is anything else like it though.

You lost me towards the end. Are those instructions for how to wipe my ass, or retopologize in blender?

3D Coat has stuff like that with the lines and shit

that looks like the absolute most basic set of tools to aid manual retopo, not a smart auto-retopo with artistic control.

In my own experience, you ask the guys you paid for to do that for you. Then the guys do it. I never asked it how they did it, I'm confident in their capabilities, it's the first rule of delegating.

There are many subpar people here, who would ask something so trivial. You delegate to the people who know how to do it, or you know how to do it, it's the most trivial thing if you're not incompetent.

How does /3/ feel about Topogun or 3DCoat's retopology?

Garbage. I'd much rather use Topogun.
