that's a reasonable price for a plugin, you see people selling plugins that do much less for flagship creative packages that are $300+

They literally can't get it to work with 2.8.

If $86 is reasonable for a plugin, then what is $250 for Maya?

Lets start a company. We have limited capitol and need software for 10 people. We could use any of these options.

or for 860 one time cost outfit the company with blender and retopoflow or whatever other plugins are needed. Or just use Git and get it free.

What does the company do. Zbrush is perpetual and you can even get a subscription for a few months to do a contract and wait to buy it latter.

So you can afford 10 people, but not the software? Yeah, that business is going down in a couple of months.

Does everything have to be one or another?

Can't I think that Blender will probably never become industry Standard because it doesn't fit any particular pipeline role that I can tell, doesn't have customer support, and and the erratic nature of open source development means it's a poor fit with a risk adverse industry, and STILL think it's a very promising software with a lot of potential that's great for hobbyists and artists, and expect it to be very dominant in freelance work?

You know that Blender uses the GPL license, which forces addon creators to give you their source code for free, if you ask? Many even have a GitHub where you can get the stuff, zip it and use it.

>> No.718761

>>718426
Look at their GitHub, there is a working branch for 2.8.

>> No.718777

I've tested an older version on 2.79 and it was unusable because it was too buggy.
Couldn't finish the retopo job and went back to Maya.
When their 2.8 version is actually usable then we could talk about it - so far, there is unfulfilled potential, nothing else.

Just to make Blender the fabled actually usable, powerful and fast modeling machine the fanboys always tell you about you need to spend $150-200 on plugins. And that's talking about modeling only.
Of course, you can pirate the plugins, but at this point you're doing wonders of mental gymnastics just to not use professional proprietary software.
