Honestly? I'd say he's already reached it. He's made all his dumb tutorials and lengthy talks and just lives off the Poliigon revenue and his other expensive addons. I don't think he even touches Blender that much anymore. If you check his social media, the guy just retweets me_irl memes and gets impressed by Substance and ZBrush (yeah, I know right?), with the occasional mention about Blender now and again. They learned 3D literally by trial and error, without ANYONE to teach them. There's an interview with Baldessarini saying he spent months fiddling around to make a basic shape of a Christmas tree in the early 90s. These people deserve respect for that. Besides, what you describe is exactly what any artist does, or anyone trying to be professional for that matter. It is literally the essence of our society.
