Yes but it doesn't matter 99% of the people on /3 are either:

1. People who make no money because they have no skills so they use blender.
2. People that pirate autodesk software but also make no money.
3. People that actually have skills and get their license from their employers.
4. People that are enrolled in university or another educational facility and have been using a EDU license for the past 15 years... (I'm one of them)

Everyone one who have brain pirate this overpriced software anyway

Nope, it isn't, as expected... How do they choose the countries though, that's some weird list.

But even if it was available I'm not sure I'd buy it, maybe if I was really required to use it for a project, then it would be worth it. I'd like to at least have an option, but apparently I don't.

>Annual $265.00
Getting real tired of this subscription bullshit for software that hardly ever gets any meaningful updates.

Watched Andrew Price tutorials back in 2015 for Blender and now I average about 3k a month on my blender work alone mostly doing product renders.

Max deserves the money, it's amazing. But Maya is shit.

>> No.760884

>>760872
Actually i think its compliantly opposite
Max is shit while Maya is great
But honestly autodesk already have monopoly and don't deserve money from freelancers or poorfags

Both have features I wish the other had, but I'll take maya over max any day.

disregard me
for some reason, the first time i did this it put a regular license in my cart. motherfuckers.
$265/year isn't that bad. It's $22/month which is on par with a lot of these other subscription models like Adobe
i don't understand why they don't just do what epic/unreal does and take a percentage of your profits
that way the hobbyist community can use the software for free

>> No.761159

>>761156
honestly i'd wish autodesk would release a freely licensed version of max/maya for hobbyists so everyone would shut the fuck up about blender

>> No.761161

>>761159
I wonder if that would really fuck blender up? I have a feeling it could. This new indie license not really, but having a completely FREE version for hobbyists though? I also don't see why not, Nuke e.g. has a free non-commerciallicense, same as Houdini.

Because isn't that the majority of Blender users? Freelancers who use it professionaly like me are very rare I assume.

>> No.761164

if max were free, i would start experimenting with it on the side, but doing your hobby stuff in blender means your works gets to live on forever
professional stuff, doesn't matter, you got paid, that's all that matters. but for hobby stuff, i very much do care that the formats are open.

>> No.761258

If you are doing anything but animation you can store everything in USD file format and you are DCC independent. Pixar has already freed up that path by creating this open standard.

>> No.761265

>>761258
Stuff like that is very promising, but nothing is a substitute for the real thing. The internal blender renderer has been abandoned, but it continues to live as an easily obtainable download that you can sandbox into a VM running an old Linux distro. And I don't have to go through shady download sites or anything -- all official software repos (mostly .edu mirrors and the like)

3ds MAX is an essential tool for me.
That´s why i pirate it.
My pirate version is functional, does everything i need it to do and i have NO need to go "online officially" with Autodesk for ANY reason.
Worse case, i´d get an older version of the damn thing, until it worked.
There are older versions with large packages of plugins that makes them capable of doing things that the modern versions can´t... sigh, i miss those so much.
They want us to pay for it, they will have to work their butts for REAL.
Also, what´s that ridiculously broken animation on their website?

Well, you can go as far back as 2015, IF you got access to a decent working version with no viruses - i have both 2016 and 2019 running, that´s because you can´t control which version of plugins from a pirate database you can get.
Those show up and disappear constantly, so good luck.

Where did you get it? I failed miserably with pirating it. I just wanna learn it and see if it's worth the money. And 30 days is not enough time for this.

It was that creepy guy in high school that was popular with his sister's elementary school friends. When these kids grew up they eventually found out he was a fucking retard with no talent other than his superficial good looks.

Well, it IS a rather hard to crack software because of the dongle copy protection filled with steps to make it work.
Cracked working versions free of viruses are regarded nowadays as real treasures, worth they megabytes in gold, and you´re probably will have a hell of a time both finding and installing one.
