Advanced Skeleton is a life saver, I don't know how I'd get by without it

>> No.694104

>Blender 2.8

>No adaptive sampling
>No relative pixel variance
>Auto-Tile is an add-on and not enabled by default
>EEVEE render engine doesn't support object motion blur
>No Auto-Retopology option, fuck you buy another add-on
>no character muscle deformers except for X-muscle plugin that is now not supported by version 2.8
>No 3D animation onion skinning option
>Flip Fluid sim add-on is now broken in 2.8 because of fatal high priority bug that's STILL broken and has been for months
>No PTEX texture support for cinematic studio pipelines (PTEX supported by Autodesk Maya, SideFX Houdini, Zbrush, Mari, PTEX used by literally ever Walt Disney 3D animated movie since 2008)
>Basic functionality in other software is an add-on in Blender, and the add-ons could break if Blender updates like they did with 2.8 and if there's a bug there isn't any customer support like Autodesk, because the add-on is being developed by some random fuckwad named Stewart in Oklahoma who finances his anime fuckdoll collection with his programming skills and he got bored with maintaining the plugin so you can go fuck yourself and eat shit halfway through making your big movie

Guys why don't industry-level studios use this software, I don't understand

PTEX is a meme pushed by the 3D Jew
Explain in detail why it's important and show me you didn't just copy paste this list full of buzzwords you don't even understand

inb4 someone starts nitpicking the list and comes back with "why would you need that anyw

PTEX was technology developed by Walt Disney Animation Studios that uses "per face" texture mapping and was used on the feature length movie Bolt (2008) to paint/texture literally every surface in the movie as a test of the format. It was then released as open source technology and is now supported in Autodesk Maya, Foundry Mari, SideFX Houdini, Pixar Renderman, V-Ray for Maya, 3dcoat, mudbox, and Zbrush. Every 3D animated disney movie from 2008 to now uses PTEX. The entire island in Moana used it.

Tl;dr, it's a file format where you literally never have to use UVs ever again or UV unwrap anything. You paint/texture directly on the model without seams, increasing the texture resolution in areas that need it dynamically, you hit "save" and there. Done. Open the OBJ, open the .ptex file, and you're done. No UVs, no UV unwrapping, it's done.

>EEVEE render engine doesn't support object motion blur
Most of your complaints are just seething, but this really annoys me. We were primised object-based motion blur in Eevee, but then they just stopped mentioning it and said 2.8 was "done".

Voxel Heat Diffuse Skinning + Autorig + X-muscle addon is pretty close desu

The same thing can be said about Maya plugins. It's even worse with 3DS Max plugins where you have to wait until the dev updates it for the new yearly version, which often takes forever. At lease major blender versions are far in between.

does anyone have issues with Adv Skeleton crashing all the time and being unusable in 2019? I haveto use 2018 because of this, desu

Basic functionality in other software is included with the software, by definition.

Sounds cool
Why isn't everyone using it?

>> No.694249

>>694229
It's pretty much the same as just unwrapping each quad to a separate square. Just A, U -> Reset, go to UV editor, A, P.
>Why isn't everyone using it?
It makes the texture file itself a useless mess that you can't edit later.

So uhhh...Why would anyone use that then?

ptex is for those guys that need to justify their Mari licenses
